For most of America, if not the world, this is the season where any attempt of eating healthy goes out the window. According to a recent Weight Watchers report, the average American gains around 7-10 pounds between November and January.
Here are some tips to help you approach these upcoming months with a plan:
Don’t stop Exercising
Take this time to develop a regular exercise regime. This will help you burn off the excess calories consumed over these few months. If you decide to join a gym, you will also be ahead of the New Years Resolution-ers that will be flooding the gyms come January 2nd.
Prepare for Outings
If you have some big nights of eating with family and friends, try and compensate by having healthy days of eating leading up to the event. Planning the meals that you can control ahead of time will help you offset the unexpected cookies, cake, or martini you will have!
Stock up on Healthy Snacks
This tip goes hand and hand with the preparing for outings. If you have healthy snacks on hand you can resist some temptations before your outing. You can carry some raw veggies, nuts, or fruit to eliminate the need to snack on something unhealthy.
Moderate Alcohol Intake
Don’t be blinded by that innocent glass of sparkling champs, or that small bottle of beer. Alcohol contains calories, lots of them. Naturally, you are eating more, and drinking more, so it’s double the calories at once. Look for some lower calorie alternatives if you will be drinking, or you can choose to drink that beer over eating that piece of cake. Remember, it’s all about balance! Also, don’t forget to drink RESPONSIBLY!
